The City of Moscow will be hosting an informational meeting this
Thursday, December 14th from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the City
Council Chambers in City Hall on the subject of the potential
development of a surface water storage
reservoir. </font></blockquote>

size="-1"><u>Background</u></font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite> </blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font size="-1">Over the course of the
last year there have been numerous discussions and forums in which the
potential of a surface water storage facility has been raised as a
possible means of providing a potable water supply for the region.
In order to address this issue in a thorough manner the City of Moscow
has budgeted funds to perform a feasibility study on the concept of
such a facility. As a precursor to undertaking the study and as
a means to further educate interested parties about the complexities
of such an undertaking the City has arranged for Mr. Benjamin Floyd of
HDR, Inc. to provide a primer course on the issue of development of
new surface water storage facilities. Mr. Floyd will be
discussing the many steps necessary to assess the viability of a
reservoir including watershed suitability, physical site
characteristics, excess water availability, permitting, treatment, and
conveyance to point of use. It is the intent of the primer to
raise awareness of the multiple steps that are necessary for the
development of surface water storage facilities and the time and
financial commitment that is involved.</font></blockquote>
