noon AST as the 11<sup>th</sup> governor of the State of <st1:State w:st="on">Alaska</st1:State>
in a very well attend ceremony in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Fairbanks</st1:place></st1:City>.
She is the first female to serve as an Alaskan governor and joins 8 other
women throughout the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">US</st1:place></st1:country-region>
who are serving in their states’ executive position. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

development, improved native relations, a gas pipeline contract, better care of
the states fisheries, while keeping the budget in check. The
ceremony also honored Alaskan Native veterans as well as paid tribute to the
172<sup>nd</sup> Striker Brigade who has just returned from <st1:country-region
w:st="on">Iraq</st1:country-region> (believe me it was really nice seeing
a lot of our friends at the inauguration who are now home from <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Iraq</st1:country-region></st1:place>).
