University as they begin The Week Without Violence on October 16th.

size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">The five-day event starts with keynote
speaker Detective Jennifer McFarland (Mac-far-lund) from the Latah (luh-tah)
County Sheriff’s Department.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>Proceeding McFarland’s (Mac-far-lund’s) speech will be the Clothesline
Project held at Glenn Terrell Mall.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>A clothesline will display shirts that have been decorated to represent
an individual’s violent experience. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal
style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in; LINE-HEIGHT: 200%"><FONT
size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Following the Clothesline project is the
White Ribbon Project which is designed to raise awareness of domestic
violence.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Men from various campus
organizations assemble informational cards with commemorative ribbons and pass
them out on the Glenn Terrell Mall. These projects are scheduled to occur all
days of the event. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>

style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in; LINE-HEIGHT: 200%"><FONT
size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">The annual Take Back the Night March will
also take place on October 17th. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 200%"><FONT
size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">The march begins in front of Todd Hall at
7pm, and will go through Greek Row and end at the Glenn Terrell Mall.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The march is an effort to allow women on
campus to feel safe when walking alone at night. The number of rapes on campus
has more then doubled from last year.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>The Y-W-C-A of W-S-U hopes to eliminate this problem and raise awareness
during the Week Without Violence.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>

Pullman, millions of other people will take part in concurrent events and

welcomed and encouraged to join the Y-W-C-A in its fight against violence.<SPAN
