Joe,

Neither of those Joes was referring to you. Go back and read more than the subject. Both of those guys had been long done with baseball before you were even a glimmer in your Ph.D.'s eye.

The first was about Joseph Earl Campbell, who only played in one major league game (May 3, 1967), but struck out in every one of his at-bats. Hence the title, "Joe Campbell Strikes Out". Maybe I should have been more specific and included the middle name. After all, Joseph
Earl Campbell is most certainly not you.

The second was about Joseph Benes, whom his teammates nicknamed "Bananas", and who played in 1931. That is where the subject came from. I was going to say "Joe
Is Bananas", but I thought it was funnier to say that this guy (who is most certainly NOT you) was going crazy. Obviously there was confusion; perhaps I should have been more specific and included the last name, but I thought that including his nickname -- what he is most known for -- would have been enough.

However, you're right. Nobody buys it when you just play dumb. As you put it, "We can all see right through that crap." When I think that,
"It's all about the code" and "It's a biased, pro-Walmart presentation (but I'm not going to tell you why)" inexplicably pop into my head.

I still don't know where all of the "snotty, rude, insulting remarks made toward liberals" are to be found, or why I deserved a "He started it", but it's OK. I've come to realize that when you get worked up thinking your pride is under fire, you say things you don't really mean.

And really, even if I were implying that you strike out or are going crazy (which, of course, I most certainly wasn't), you would think that a grown man, especially one as educated and prestigious as yourself, could handle a bit of ribbing.

All in good fun,

Deacon

On 9/11/06, Joe Campbell <

Deacon, in all due respect, this post only makes me believe that those nasty rumors floating around town that Kirkers have no problem lying to non-Kirkers are true.

Did you not post a message awhile back with the heading "Joe Campbell strikes out"? Did you not follow that with the recent post -- "Joe goes bananas" -- which happened also to follow a post by me that was critical of NSA? It is almost as if you actually believe that those silly rhetorical techniques that you learned at school will work here, outside in the real world. They don't. We can all see right through that crap.

I'm not upset about any of this. I'm just illustrating what happens when we play these same childish games. None of these posts are a product of any anger on my part. It is all just fun and games, CC-style. If you can't beat them, join them. Right?

If you want me to treat you with respect, you'll have to return the favor. And that will begin with an apology and end with your not so cleverly veiled insults. Let's just talk about the issues and leave it at that.

Joe,

I still don't know what you are talking about. Every post you make is a non
sequitur. I don't know why you're so upset. Take a chill-pill, man.

First of all, I'm not even sure what issue I was first to bring up. Shoot,
all I know is that you start talking about fannies, and then J. Woolfinford
starts talking about particular people's posteriors, and before you know it,
you're ready to start handing someone one in the eye. That escalated really
quickly.

Second, I don't know where all of the "snotty, rude, insulting remarks made
toward liberals" are to be found. I don't think there's anything to get
worked up about. I don't know, though. Maybe you've just been having a rough
time a work or something?

Lastly, I know that you can resort to adolescent name-calling, but I'd like
to ask you not to. It's not becoming of you. You're better than this, Joe.

Hope that helps, buddy. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

Take care,

Deacon

On 9/11/06, Joe Campbell <
