Julie,<br> <br> Just because someone is certified by the State of Idaho to teach doesn't mean they can teach.<br> <br> And yes, the teacher that I had that was also a coach, at Moscow High School in 1991, was caught taking bribes to put their sons on the basketball team over that other students that should have made the team. He also gave Bs on a paper if you stapled a $5 on the second page and an A is you stapled a $10. That guy was certified by the State of Idaho to teach. Didn't sound like quality teaching to me. <br> <br> I had a guy who was coach at CDA High School. He didn't even know how many members of Congress there were, he should not have been teaching 12th Grade US History. His name was Coach Lund. <br> <br> True, the majority of my teachers were good teachers. But it only too sad that the pay scale rewards the lousy ones better than the excellent ones simply because they have been around longer. <br> <br> Frankly, I find it unbelievable
that you never had a bad teacher in all your years in MSD. <br> <br> Best,<br> <br> _DJA<br> <br> <br><b><i>Julie Crumley <joodge@hotmail.com></i></b> wrote:<blockquote class="replbq" style="border-left: 2px solid rgb(16, 16, 255); margin-left: 5px; padding-left: 5px;"> <div style=""><div><br><br></div> <div><br>Donovan once again is making offensive statements with NO supporting information. </div> <div>He says "coaches that were trying to teach government, history and geography".</div> <div>All public school teachers in Idaho are certified by the State of Idaho. All are held to the same standards, just as I was in my teacher education program, in order to obtain this certificate. </div> <div>Some teachers are also coaches. This is true. Some are not. </div> <div>I have not been enrolled in 12 school systems as he claims he has, only our own MSD for 13 years . I had <em>excellent
</em>teachers. Even those who were coaches and "trying" to teach, as he put it. In particular, I had fabulous PE and health teachers. The fact that some of them may also be coaches does not discredit their teaching abilities. To me, it shows a true interest in the lives of students and an interest in shaping that person as a whole. </div> <div>Area Sister,</div> <div>JC</div> <div> </div></div>=======================================================<br> List services made available by First Step Internet, <br> serving the communities of the Palouse since 1994. <br> http://www.fsr.net <br> mailto:Vision2020@moscow.com<br>=======================================================</blockquote><br><p>
