Yeah, you're right that it's smarter to pull over. It just irks me
that I have worry about these maniacs out there on the road. I just
can't help thinking about the forces involved and what even a smallish
car can do to you at supposedly "safe" highway speeds. It probably
comes from riding motorcycles for years, I guess. You're unarmored,
and you're apparently invisible to anyone in a car. Though this would
never work for insurance purposes, I wish that people would learn what
it's like to get in a wreck at even slow speeds when they take driver's
ed. Maybe they'd treat it less like a video game and more like the
potentially deadly activity that it really is.

Anyway, I'm glad they are trying to curb some of these behaviors.

Paul,
I don't know if they'll give you a ticket or not, but I think it makes sense
to pull over. Why take the chance that one of the people behind you will
pass when he or she shouldn't, and cause a wreck? Let the others get out in
front of you and you won't have to worry about them on your tail. I'm
always glad when an angry tailgater is out of my life.
My own peeves are the driver who drives slowly slowly until he gets to a
passing lane, then speeds up as I try to pass, and his good friend who
drives in the left lane of the passing lane when he's not passing anyone.
Often that driver prevents someone heading in the other direction from
safely and legally passing cars (heading North down Reisenauer or towards
Genesee.)

I've always wondered; if I'm going the speed limit and more than three cars
behind me want to drive illegally fast and I'm slowing them down will I get
a ticket for not pulling over? I'm one of those weirdos that goes the
speed limit and not +5 or +10 mph over.

Watch your driving this weekend (and other times as well...)

They're targeting mountain highways
Driving to the mountains this weekend? ISP wants you to watch out. They're
targeting failure to pull over and improper passing on mountain highways,
and will keep it up for the next several weeks. They're reminding
motorists that Idaho law requires that on two-lane highways outside urban
areas, a vehicle going slower than the normal speed of traffic and holding
up three other motorists must pull off at the next safe turnout to let
folks pass. They're also going after improper passing, in no-passing zones
and when it's not safe. "Our troopers will be working the mountain
highways over the next several weeks with a particular focus on making
sure motorists pull over when they need to, and others don't pass when
they shouldn't," said ISP Region 3 Commander Capt. Steve Richardson.
