<P><STRONG>Back in the good old days they would have shot him on the spot. Now they can do wonders with surgery. . . . however, some horses do badly with anesthetics. They can come out of them thrashing and do even more damage. Even with good surgical results, that horse will needs months of complete stall rest. . a really tough thing for thoroghbreds since their temperment is so high-strung. And horses have been known to do stupid things even in the confines of their nice safe stall.</STRONG></P>
<P><STRONG>I can tell you don't follow racing. . . the dream of a triple crown winner was shattered yesterday afternoon. We've been waiting for 27 years. . . now we have another year to wait. Check out Ruffian's story. . . . that was another heartbreaking race.</STRONG></P>
<P><STRONG>I understand sometimes it's difficult for non-horse people to understand the passion. And the nice thing is, you don't have to own a horse to be "horse people" (but it helps :) )</STRONG></P>
