<div>And reminded yet again that there is no time for anyone to delay expressing their heartfelt feelings to others, for anyone can die at any time. It is so commonly human to regret not saying directly to someone what our heart's feel, when the finality of death renders this impossible.

<div>I never met Phil, and knew little about him except for what was presented to Vision2020. Yet his willingness to engage in debate on Vision2020 inspired in me a more objective exploration of certain hot button topics, from a less biased mindset. Thus I can say Phil was a "teacher," insofar as anyone who prompts someone else to understand the world in a different way, is "teaching."

<div>Phil and I exchanged some heated and contentious conversations on Vision2020, but this is to be expected in the real world of free and open political debate in a vital democracy. Vision2020 is often slammed for offering too many personalized attacks, but in part this is an expression of the freedom the list offers for people to really express what they think and feel, and thus can be viewed as a positive sign that truly free and open discussion is occurring.

<div>I am happy that the last exchange I had with Phil on Vision2020 was an attempt at respectfully putting aside polarizing Democrat vs. Republican or Socialist vs. Libertarian partisanship, labeling and stereotyping, to find common ground for political/economic discussion.
