<DIV>A friend sent me this link to a recent review of Elizabeth Fox Genovese's
book "<SPAN class=bigtext>The Mind of the Master Class: History and Faith
in the Southern Slaveholders' Worldview."</SPAN> (Some of you may
recall that she was to be the featured speaker at a recent NSA graduation. And,
of course her husband has written a blurb for Doug Wilson's reworked pamphlet
"Southern Slavery As It Was, which is now called "Black and Tan." )</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The review points out the principle problems with the work (while
acknowledging the great footnotes - Doug should read it for that reason
alone, he could use some polishing on that skill). Ms.
Fox-Genovese is apparently about thirty years behind in the research and
much of the book is devoted to her understanding the minds of godly
Christian slaveholders etc. etc. etc. (Maybe this was a collaborative
effort?) If any NSA students are still reading V2020 I urge them to take a
look - the review is indicative of how real historians work. </DIV>

<DIV>Another link that is well worth following is a recently developed
website devoted to Christ Church East aka the Highland Study Center and its
pastor, R.C. Sproul Jr. Spoul has been held accountable by his
presbytery (unlike Doug, he actually attended a seminary and was ordained)
for spiritual abuse of church members. Imagine
that. just because Sproul likes his beer and cigars,
apparently misuses his church authority, and has confessed to tax fraud,
those darned uptight Presbyterians have defrocked him. Doug Wilson has
been kissing up to R.C. Jr. for years and has moved rapidly to entice him into
Wilson's own self-started group of ecclesiastic pals, the Confederation of
Reformed Evangelicals. Not surprisingly, CRE members specialize
in overlooking pastoral flaws probably because many of them learned
their theology at under Doug's tutelage. The website gives
special attention to Doug and Roy Atwood. It's worth looking at - and
really, really, funny. (Well funny to those of us who haven't had to
endure the consequences of abusive religious egomaniacs run amuck.)</DIV>
