<DIV>Ms. Lund and I have been invited to appear on the Auntie E and Brother Carl
show this afternoon to discuss the upcoming property tax hearings before the
Idaho Board of Tax Appeals. (We will, I expect, also be commenting on
other local issues - WalMart, our city council, religious crackpots, the
established practice in Moscow of rewarding those who ignore zoning laws
and the Comprehensive Plans, etc. etc. etc.) </DIV>

Best Western. </DIV>

<DIV>As usual, Auntie and Brother have allowed us to chose a favorite song
as a reward for appearing. As usual, my choice is an inspirational
rabble rousing tune. Special thanks to my daughter Heather for introducing
me to this foot stomping, get-up-and-get-busy tune. It's from a great
C.D. by Brian McNeill called "The Back O the North Wind." The song is
called the Rock and the Tide (lyrics below - slightly edited). You'll love
the bagpipes, and I hope be motivated by the sentiments so beautifully
expressed by Brian McNeill.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The Rock and the Tide</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Come all of you who lie in the prisons of the mighty, </DIV>
<DIV>Who refuse to deny what you believe,</DIV>
<DIV>and know your greatest foe is the servant o' the night</DIV>
<DIV>who ties to sell the bargain of reprieve. </DIV>
<DIV><FONT lang=0 face=Georgia size=3 FAMILY="SERIF" PTSIZE="12">And when the
captains o' the cruel come to whisper their lies</FONT></DIV>
<DIV>let their temptations fall by your side.</DIV>
<DIV>Listen tae the ocean and </DIV>
<DIV>remember how the rock stands firm against the tide. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>And you who would be jailers, take this warning</DIV>
<DIV>for every (wo)man you break upon your wheel,</DIV>
<DIV>There's another whose courage will pierce you like a thorn,</DIV>
<DIV>when you see you can never make him (her) kneel.</DIV>
<DIV>And when the torn digs deep into the canker of your heart,</DIV>
<DIV>and the prisoner sees the shame you cannot hide,</DIV>
<DIV>it's then you'll fear the sound o' the ocean, </DIV>
<DIV>where the rock stands firm against the tide.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>No matter the freedom, no matter the cause, </DIV>
<DIV>no matter the truth that lies beyond</DIV>
<DIV>no evil can triumph, though it cloak itself in law,</DIV>
<DIV>against a (wo)man whose word is his (her) bond.</DIV>
<DIV>No cage can hold the spirit of a true (wo)man's heart </DIV>
<DIV>and injustice can never fetter pride.</DIV>
<DIV>No tyrant can ever chain the ocean, </DIV>
<DIV>while the rock stands firm against the tide.</DIV>
