Ah, a lecture about compassion from Pat, who thinks nothing bad happened at Abu Ghraib. I'm still trying to figure out if that makes you a torture defender or a torture apologist, and if there's a difference.

Since 'compassion as we know it' involves bombing countries we invade on the basis of lies, and flattening places like Fallujah, I don't know how much we really know about it. When you tell me, please include your summary of the reasons we went to war with Iraq.

Here's a link to a story covered by NPR last week:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4977986

Pat says 'No one lost a hand in the 'torture,' it was more like a fraternity/animal house thing.' You know, looking at the picture of the widow and child holding the photograph of the dead man, I can tell they get the joke. The mom thinks that Otter was responsible for her husband's death, but the son's pretty sure it was Neidermayer and his friends at the snooty fraternity. You can see how grateful they are for compassion as we understand it.

But boy, did you nail it on the head with your description of Muslims. How did you know that they're all exactly the same, sharing identical beliefs and practices? I bet they even all look alike ( which, based on my experiences, sadly means they all look like me.)

Do some Muslims do terrible things? Yes, just like some Hindus, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, you name it. Does that mean all members of those religion are the same and would do the same thing? Of course not.

Yours in compassion,

Especially
>the Jews, but truly anyone. On Good morning America this AM they had the
>woman who has stood up to her city council in Pakistan who gang raped her.
>She is today's Rosa Parks and what she is doing will rock that world. I
>believe that she knew, KNEW that the rest of the world would stand behind
>her and if she could only get the press to tell her story she could change
>the system. She is incredibly brave. I also think this is some of the
>fallout from our taking on Saddam. It
will give others the courage to face
>their unfair systems and make very positive changes. I know people involved
>in Iran in a variety of ways and I think you can expect at some time some
>inside changes in that country also. While I believe the press is very
>selective in their stories this woman's story is one that they have helped
>to promote.
