Re: Daily News

In the last year, the Daily News has refused to print
several of my letters dealing with the Christ Church Cult, although the other
newspapers the letters were sent to printed them without change.

In the last case, the Daily News asked that I produce
verification for several statements all of which were short paraphrases of items
first reported in the Daily News itself. Can you say
"Chickenshit!"?

Perhaps Nathan needs to see about getting a testosterone patch
and needs to read the daily international news that reflect all the problems in
the world caused by religious zealots.

Why wasn't Iverson just added to the "Town Criers" to
appear periodically in rotation with the other "Town Criers"?

Given Murf's dotage and personal views which he seems not able
to keep out of his management of the OP/ED page, perhaps his reassignment
to something less harmful like pet news should be considered.

Unlike Rosemary, I will not cancel my subscription because of
Iverson (and some recent atrociously slanted and/or inept news reporting)
because I think Iverson paints an accurate picture of the cult's views.

I think it wonderful that the cult is quite unaware of
the negative effect of Iverson's bigoted writings -- look how many responded
with letters to the editor to his first asinine column where he asserted in the
name of tolerance that he and his cult kin were the only ones to hold "THE ONLY TRUE RELIGION".
Such statements, in my opinion, are symptoms of serious mental health
problems.

Iverson is to the Daily News what Costello is to the
LMT. Both do more damage to their cause than good by their
maladroit arguments and extreme positions. The more Iverson writes, the
more the majority of the community will see the threat posed by the egotism and
megalomania of Cultmaster Douglas Wilson and his ovine followers. Iverson
will certainly recruit more soldiers for the opposition in the cultural war
which Wilson initiated.

> Jose,
>
> I
don't know you and I hope that you don't find the heading of this
posting
> offensive in any way. But your posting was so off-base that I
could not
> resist. (In the event that you do not even exist, then I am
REALLY sorry for
> writing this.)
>
> I respect Ed Iverson's
right to hold his own opinions -- as ridiculous,
> ill-formed, and
offensive as they may be -- but the fact that he is given a
> WEEKLY
column to express them shows just how jaded our newspaper has become.
>
(Rose Huskey has already noted this in her 8/27 posting, "Daily News
>
Cancellation Letter.")
>
> To say that, in granting this privilege
to Iverson, the Daily News is merely
> allowing "disparate (desperate?)
views to be expressed" suggests that there
> is equal space given to
alternative views. But I'll give you $100 if you can
> find even one local
opinion essay printed in the Daily News within the last
> week dealing
with an alternative theory of the nature of morality. And I can
> tell you
of no fewer than 10 folks in the area who are more qualified and
> able to
speak to the subject than Iverson.
>
> Furthermore, to my
knowledge, there has been exactly one op/ed essay against
> NSA/Christ
Church printed during the summer, the beautiful piece by Huskey
> and
Lund. That was soon followed by a rebuttal op/ed piece by Wilson
>
himself, revealing a common policy of the Daily News, to allow rebuttals
on
> this issue only when NSA/Christ Church is under attack.
>
> In addition to Iverson's weekly column we are subject to the occasional
but
> slanted views of Murf Raquet, who, in his latest rant, felt the need
to note
> the turbulent atmosphere of a zoning meeting that HE DIDN'T EVEN
BOTHER TO
> ATTEND. (I know because I WAS there.)
>
>
>> Moscow,
>>
>> On behalf of Ed Iverson, the
Christ Church elders, and the grater Christian
>> community in Moscow

Moscow-Pullman Daily News for selecting Ed Iverson as a
>> regular
editorial contributor. Nate, thank you for your fair and balanced
>>
approach to allowing disperate views to be expressed. Your are truely

see
>> how we live, how we worship.
>>
>>
Sincerely,
>> Jose Naranjo
>
>
