<DIV>Someone with more knowledge of the tax code could maybe help me here: I thought property tax, which is paid to the local tax district, expands the local tax base by providing revenue to city or county government to pay for local services. Sales tax, which is paid to the state tax commission, does not expand our local tax base directly, although perhaps an increase in sales tax revenue to the state might come back to us in the form of increased spending from state government. </DIV>
