WSU<br>

PULLMAN -- Influential scholar Noam Chomsky will give the 2005 Potter
Memorial Lecture at Washington State University at 3:30 p.m. April 22
in the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.<br>
<br>
"Imminent Crises: Responsibilities and Opportunities" is the
title of Chomsky's speech.<br>
<br>
The event is free and open to the public.<br>
<br>
"Chomsky's appearance at Washington State University provides a
rare opportunity for faculty, students and residents of the Palouse,"
said David Shier, chairman of the philosophy department. "Noam
Chomsky is one of the most respected scholars of our age."<br>
<br>
Chomsky, a Philadelphia native, is professor of linguistics and
philosophy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.</font><br>
<font face="Verdana"></font></div>
<div><font face="Verdana">Chomsky has written books and articles
analyzing U.S. foreign policy over the past 50 years. Among them are
"Hegemony or Survival," "Understanding Power,"
"Rogue States," "9-11," "On Language,"
"Media Control," "Secrets, Lies and Democracy" and
"Middle East Illusions."</font></div>
