This whole Schiavo thing is a waste of the time of the media, Congress and the President, a propaganda ploy for sure. Karl Rove is all over this.

Of course it is tragic, but so aren't the lives of thousands and thousands of people who have brains still intact who are not getting the health care they need, while all this effort is spent keeping a brain dead person still biologically functional in some respects.

There is no "Terri Schiavo" to keep alive. Her personality is gone. She is brain dead.

It is the decision of the doctors treating her that her condition is permanent, and this is the critical fact in this case. If she had cognitive abilities sufficient to answer "yes" or "no" to any question by any means, her husband could not legally decide to pull the plug. He can only make that decision because she is no longer with us, and has remained that way for over ten years, based on the expert knowledge of physicians.

Of course congressman (R. Texas) Tom Delay knows better. I heard him announce in the media that the doctors are wrong about Schiavo, so now expect Delay to be practicing medicine along with bullying people in the US Congress.

Bush signed legislation when governor in Texas that supports pulling the plug in a case like Schiavo, and we know that Bush is a man of unwavering moral principles....
