what both of you really think about anonymous postings in the special case we
have been discussing. Your responses on this issue don't seem to be
quite focused on the exact situation involved.

What is your opinion on
whether it is acceptable or not for someone who has very good reasons to hide
their real name from the V2020 list serve to use a pseudonym when they join
and post to V2020? Do you think people in this situation we have been
discussing, someone who is at risk of abuse and needs to keep their location
secret, or perhaps a business owner who wishes to speak but fears financial
consequences for an unpopular opinion, or even someone who fears negative
consequences if they reveal their sexual orientation, should just not
participate in V2020? Or do you think there are justifiable exceptions
to the informal rule that everyone on the V2020 list serve sign their posts
with their real name?

And Tom, am I to assume you reject the numerous
anonymous postings from Captain Kirker, someone who I was told by a reliable
source does have good reasons both to speak publicly on the issues he/she
presents, and to keep their identify hidden?

Ted Moffett
