Thanks for this article, especially the references it makes to the details of the financial condition of Social Security, which is manageable without the radical changes to "save" it that the Bush administration is proposing. Interesting fact, if true, that the long term costs of Bush's tax cuts are more than enough to cover the SS shortfall. But this makes sense, if you follow the theory that Bush's tax cuts are in part aimed at creating a budget crisis, federal debt, etc., of such proportions that radical cuts in Social Security and other domestic programs will appear unavoidable, while billions for Iraq are being handed out like a drunken sailor!<BR>

The convservative/right wing goal is not to save Social Security, but in the long run to dismantle it, part of the agenda of dismembering the evil socialist Democrat driven New Deal. <BR>
<BR>
And it is amazing that so many people just swallow whole the propaganda that Social Security cannot be "saved" without the changes Bush and others are proposing.<BR>
