This thread was about what Christ would think about certain modern issues. Anyway...

Pay increases for "workers" at the top, CEOs, etc., have increased dramatically, but the minimum wage has been stagnant. Assuming your theory, the increases in a CEOs compensation should also cause inflation. Funny that you don't hear that argument when discussion of raising the minimum wage is opposed on the grounds it causes inflation.

Anyway, the rise of the middle class in the USA, and a standard of living the envy of the world (at least it was), was achieved after government regulations on many aspects of the business world were put into place, including raises in the minimum wage, so there is some problem with the idea that raising the minimum wage is so bad for the economy.

To heck with it! I give up. All this government regulation is just bad for business. I propose we go back to the good ol'days of unregulated child labor, no restrictions on hours worked, and no minimum wage. The government schools are bad anyway, so the kids would be better utilized as a human resource if we had them working 12 hours a day, abandoning that laziness inducing 40 hour work week, with no worries about any inflation producing minimum wage. Pay them what the market will allow, and with a captive and compliant work force, the market will allow a very low wage. But at least those struggling single parents will have their kids contributing economically.

Government regulation of business just gets in the way of the free market system, and freedom is good, especially the freedom to make money off the labor of others who are trapped in circumstances that prod them into working hard for long hours for low pay.
