Association
(MCA) is celebrating its second birthday with a party, providing a free
dinner,
live music, and a short informational program to the public beginning
at </span><st1:time hour="18" minute="30"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">6:30pm</span></st1:time><span
style="font-size: 14pt;"> on Monday, November 8, at the 1912 Center in
</span><st1:City><st1:place><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Moscow</span></st1:place></st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">The
MCA was established in November of 2002.<span style="">
</span>The goal of the evening is to celebrate the activist group and
its community
successes over the last two years.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Author
Andrea Vogt, who wrote the biography of </span><st1:State><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Idaho</span></st1:place></st1:State><span
style="font-size: 14pt;"> community organizer Bill Wassmuth, will
speak about
activism as defined and lived by the famed human rights
supporter. In addition, representatives from </span><st1:City><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Moscow</span></st1:place></st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;"> community groups will share information
about their
activities<br>
and plans during the short program. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Live
music from Zugunrue, a local guitar trio playing a diverse mix of
blues, cowboy
ballads, Celtic tunes and contemporary folksongs, will follow the
program. The
band’s repertoire includes original compositions mixed with a variety
of
contemporary music, as well as old standards like “Tennessee Waltz” and
“Ghost
Riders in the Sky.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">The
MCA is planning the evening to combine the informational program,
music, and
plenty of time to meet and mingle in a fun atmosphere. The MCA
board will provide complimentary food, music, and non-alcoholic
beverages.
Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">The
doors will open for dinner at </span><st1:time hour="18" minute="30"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">6:30pm</span></st1:time><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">,
and the formal program is planned for </span><st1:time hour="19"
minute="0"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">7pm to 8pm</span></st1:time><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">. <span style=""> </span>Live music and
dancing will
begin at </span><st1:time hour="20" minute="0"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">8pm</span></st1:time><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">.<span style=""> </span>Families and
all members of the community are welcome. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">The
MCA was created two years ago, and during those two years, has:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">--hosted
over 14 informational public meetings, with expert panels on diverse
topics, with
an average of 50 people attending each meeting;<br>
---welcomed well over 100
dues-paying members;<br>
---successfully supported two
candidates for seats on the Moscow City Council;<br>
--- applied and advanced smart
growth principles in community issues including water conservation and
land use
planning; <br>
--- sent representatives to
attend over 100 local meetings involving city planning, water,
transportation and
other topics. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
