annual
MarketDay at MaryJanesFarm, on Saturday, July 3, and Sunday, July 4,
from </span><st1:time hour="11" minute="0"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">11 a.m.</span></st1:time><span
style="font-size: 14pt;"> to </span><st1:time hour="16" minute="0"><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">4 p.m.</span></st1:time><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">,
with free admission and free entertainment both days. <span style=""> </span></span><st1:City><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Tours</span></st1:place></st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;"> of the farm, antiques, collectibles, u-pick
flowers
and vegetables, and lunch will also be available.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">MaryJanesFarm is located eight miles
southeast of </span><st1:City><st1:place><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Moscow</span></st1:place></st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">, and is the home and business headquarters
for
MaryJane Butters and the organic prepared food business she created
there in
1990.<span style=""> </span>Now, her foods and her storefront
magazine, MaryJanesFarm, are distributed across </span><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">North America</span></st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">, and she recently signed a $1.35 million
book
contract with Random House.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The Farm Couple, a pair of down-home
singers and
guitarists from </span><st1:State><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Oklahoma</span></st1:place></st1:State><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">, and Mockingbird, an a cappella trio from </span><st1:place><st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Bellingham</span></st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">, </span><st1:State><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Washington</span></st1:State></st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">, will highlight the musical entertainment.<span
style=""> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Mockingbird is three female
vocalists, Lesley
Rigg, Robin Wallbridge, and Sherrie Lutsch, who have been singing
together for
eight years.<span style=""> </span>They have released 3 CD’s –
Drenched, Magic Everywhere, and We 3 – which include a wide variety of
musical
styles from traditional ballads to doo-wop.<span style="">
</span>Sherrie Lutsch is a former </span><st1:City><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Moscow</span></st1:place></st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;"> resident who was a member of the local
singing trio,
Lotus, during the 1990’s. <span style=""> </span>Mockingbird
will perform both days.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">On Saturday, </span><st1:City><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Moscow</span></st1:place></st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;"> singer-songwriter John Larkin will entertain
with his
original guitar music and country vocals.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The Farm Couple will play on Sunday.
The Farm
Couple are Patrick Williams and Monica Taylor, who play country,
gospel, folk
and bluegrass tunes.<span style=""> </span>Williams and
Taylor, who were both raised in </span><st1:State><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Oklahoma</span></st1:place></st1:State><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">, met at the National Flat-Picking
Championship in
1996.<span style=""> </span>They have released 3 CD’s – The
Farm Couple, Songs from the Kitchen Table, and Fertile Ground.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">MarketDay visitors will have a chance
to
browse selections of antiques, farm collectibles, fresh vegetables, and
a
selection of made-in-rural-America products. The Farm Chicks from </span><st1:City><st1:place><span
style="font-size: 14pt;">Spokane</span></st1:place></st1:City><span
style="font-size: 14pt;"> will be there with a selection of their
great stuff,
for those who are adding country chic to their décor.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The MaryJanesFarm u-pick fields will
be
available for those who want the rare Sweet Lena super-fragrant iris,
or salad
mix, or strawberries, or whatever else is ripe and juicy. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">MarketDay will also include a
celebration of
the Garlic Scape—those tender flowerstalks that curl from garlic plants
this
time of year. Garlic Scapes are a delicacy in many Asian and Spanish
cuisines,
because they provide a delightfully subtle flavor and crunchiness when
added to
salads and soups, cook well in stir-fries, and can be processed as
pickles or
made into a delicious green “pesto” sauce. To celebrate the Scape, the
ScapeScapade will include free sampling of Scape products, free
recipes, and
u-pick possibilities.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">In addition, a country lunch will be
available. Self-guided tours of the farm will be encouraged. A 4,000
square
foot tent will be set up, so rain won't dampen the fun. And the
competitive
types can join in the horseshoe tournament. Lawn chairs or picnic
blankets are suggested.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
