Retired Air Force Maj. Margaret Witt challenged the U.S. military’s "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" policy in federal court and won.

On October 5th Maj. Witt discussed her case and her new book, “Tell: Love Defiance, and the Military Trial at the Tipping Point for Gay Rights.” Her free talk was followed by a reception and book signing. Margaret Witt’s appearance was sponsored by the UI School of Journalism and Mass Media and co-sponsored by the UI Women’s Center, the UI LGBTQ Office, UI Military Student Services, and the Moscow Human Rights Commission.
