POLITICS

By Barbara Asboe

There once was a woman from Cannes
Who for state representative ran
She toted a gun
So she naturally won,
Then they found she was really a man.

Some folks who adore Idaho
Want to cling to our loved status quo
They greet with a frown
Any new folks in town
And tell them to “gaddup and go.”

Instead of a loving caress
They polish their guns with finesse
They meet their new neighbors
With pistols and sabres
And municipal scorn — in excess.

Our state Legislature’s passe
They enact grotesque laws every day
Not to help kids progress
But to feather their nests
And to honor their god: NRA.

They abhor the minimum wage
And caring for those of old age
Their corporate hearts
Rising way off the charts
Leaves citizens full of outrage.

The time’s come to vote out “dose bums”
Grab your piccolo, fife and your drums
Cast out the poor souls
Who clog Idaho’s rolls,
So our government, once again, hums.
