Equality for All

(author unknown)

To say that we are not equal
And to deprive us of our right
Is to say that we are not people,
But creatures of the night;
You are the ones to call us foes,
But are we not the same?
Or should we call each rose
By a different name?
Our skin is white, our skin is black,
Our faces are filled with love;
Through our nation is a crack
That started from a shove;
How can you protect those like we
When you let yourself discriminate;
Give us our liberty!
Stop this wretched fate!
Lawmakers of The Land,
Look into your heart
As we stand hand in hand,
While you tear us Humans apart;
As we sit alone, in a separate seat;
We know this story well;
Must history we repeat?
How many times? We cannot tell;
You push us to the brink,
But we will push you back
For we are stronger than you think;
For courage we do not lack;
Do not stand in our way
As we make the world a better place;
We will have our say
As we are filled with loving grace
Stand like pillars: Be strong!
We will have our day,
When we all sing the same song
And our dreams are here to stay.
