Oh what fun we had,
Just fun, nothing bad,
The weed, the dope,
Swinging sixties  full of hope,
Things happening all the time,
Far too many to note in this rhyme.

Good friends,gentle, full of fun,
Music new era just begun,
Thai temple balls,Thai stick,
Wow man, they really did the trick,
Festivals always free,
Thats how I remember Glastonbury.

Swimming naked in a lake,
That long hot summer bake,
Hair down my back, beard abounding,
Hippy ladies so astounding,

Home grown super buzz,
Well hidden from the fuzz,
Laid back times, easy going,
Home made wine, nature bestowing.

Now old, but just the same inside,
Old friends gone,many died,
The pain not just in my heart,
Agony that tears, rips me apart,

Oh blessed pipe that helps no end,
Old blackened familiar friend,
The sativex I rely on oh so much,
Soothing, now at times my crutch.

Old vinyl albums scratched and worn,
Memories of past times adorn,
Sun rays highlight drifting smoke,
As I take another toke,

Then pssst a spray under my tounge,
This not around when I was young,
Prescribed and legal, good to ease,
My pain,my  suffering does appease,

No one I know who uses dope,
Got messed up,lost their hope,
But alcohol has ****ed so many of my friends,
A slippery slope saw them to their ends.

Ahh, yes . . . San Francisco . . . 1977

I was in the Army, assigned to Headquarters Company, 504th MP Battalion (Presidio of San Francisco).

In the Army . . . strange, but true . . . to find out where the best marijuana is sold locally . . . check with the local MPs.  Come to find out that the Moonshiner Tavern (a hangout of Rodna’s and mine) was quietly selling weed in the tavern’s restrooms.  On a couple occasions Rodna and I made a purchase.

Let me tell you, you don’t know what comfortable humor is until you’ve . . . laid in bed . . . watching Fernwood Tonight . . . toked up.
