to turn up the heat

words are used like raw meat
America’s values are questioned
democracy is in full retreat
medical expertise is dismissed
pandering to profits and wall street
the man on the throne
likes to play trick or treat
turning friends against neighbors
to escalate the pounding beat
until he can declare martial law
and elections become obsolete
allowing his children to rule
making his end-game complete …
