> March 24, 2020 (Moscow, Idaho) -- Mayor Bill Lambert has issued an additional Public Health Emergency Order No. 20-02 and additional City facility closures.

> As Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns continue and given the potential of the virus to threaten the life and health of the public and public health, additional restrictions, outlined in Public Health Emergency Order No. 20-02, will go into effect as of 12 a.m. Mar. 25, 2020 (midnight Mar. 24).
> 
> Order No. 20-02 has been enacted in addition to Public Health Emergency Order 20-01.  The additional restrictions are being enacted given the inability for some businesses to follow the recommended Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) social distancing guidelines due to the nature of the business, and in light of the unique location of Moscow and close proximity to states and locations where there are larger number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and community spread.

> Specifically, the activities and businesses impacted by Order No. 20-02 include mass gatherings, schools, churches, gyms, tattoo parlors, barbershops, and salons.  Order 20-02 states these businesses shall be closed to members, guests, patrons, customers, and the general public.   Neither Order 20-01 nor Order 20-02 applies to childcare/daycare services or facilities.

> "It is so important that we take all precautions in as short order as possible," states Lambert. "We are not taking these actions lightly; we know they are significant. Our goal is to protect our citizens in the days and weeks to come."

> This Order will be in effect for seven days, subject to extension via Resolution by the City Council.  Such a Resolution is anticipated to be considered by the Council in the coming week.

> In addition, the City of Moscow has closed playgrounds and other shared public facilities in parks effective Mar. 24, 2020, to continue to mitigate and prevent the spread of the COVID-19.  This closure includes play structures, basketball courts, the Skate Park at Eggan Youth Center, and restrooms in the City's parks and downtown. Fencing and signage will be installed to let patrons know the facilities are closed. Parks and green spaces will remain open.

> The Moscow School District has said they will also close school play structures and the Latah County Fairgrounds has said they will close Lion's Park playground.  All efforts are being taken to limit the possibility of transmission of the virus in these public spaces.
