This article from The Atlantic discusses the 12th Amendment to the US
Constitution and how it could possibly be used to keep Trump in the White
House past Jan. 2021.  It can't happen here?

It is amazing how the alleged "rule of law" can be twisted to promote
behavior that appears to be against the "spirit" of the law.  Much of what
assures the integrity of our democracy actually resides in the good will of
those in power, and not in the technical details of written law, which can
be bent and twisted and modified to suit the agenda of those in power.
