Plane crashes, flips in field outside Pullman
The Whitman Co. Sheriff's Office responded to the report shortly after 12 p.m. Initial reports indicated the pilot was practicing "touch-and-go" landings in a fields near the airport while piloting his 1964 Piper Super Cub aircraft.

A single-engine place crashed just east of Pullman Saturday afternoon, flipping and landing on its top.

The Whitman Co. Sheriff's Office responded to the report shortly after 12 p.m. Initial reports indicated the pilot was practicing "touch-and-go" landings in a fields near the airport while piloting his 1964 Piper Super Cub aircraft.

The plane was equipped with skids on the landing gear for use on snow fields or frozen terrain. During an attempt to land the plane, the Sheriff's Office said it appeared one of the skids dug into the field, causing the plane to flip and land on its top.

The pilot and sole occupant suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified and will conduct a joint investigation into the cause of the accident.
