These kitties have moved on up — from a storm drain to a Bronx apartment with a loving foster family just steps from their previous dingy digs.

The foster family, Marilyn and her daughters Amanda and Christina, took in a mother cat and her nine kittens after the mewing puffs of fur were rescued from a storm drain behind the Castle Hill Houses near Randall Ave. in Castle Hill on June 21.

Cops and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were called to a spot behind one of the city housing authority buildings after someone heard the animals crying in a garbage strewn storm drain and mentioned it during a “Build the Block” meeting where NYCHA residents can alert the NYPD to quality of life concerns.

A video taken by the ASPCA shows a worker dressed in gloves and coveralls going down plucking out each animal.

“Thanks to our residents at our last #BuildTheBlock for informing us about baby kittens being trapped under a grate behind 635 Castle Hill. Operation ‘Cute Kitty Rescue’ with our @ASPCA partners was a huge success,” cops at PSA8 tweeted at the time of the rescue.

The kitties about five feet down huddled under a large pipe.
Then they were taken to an ASPCA Animal Hospital, where they stayed for about two weeks before a Bronx mom and her two daughters took them in.

The cat, now named Azalea, and her kittens, each named after a flowers such as “Primrose” and “Daffodil” and are about seven weeks old, will be able to be adopted in the coming weeks, an ASPCA spokeswoman Natasha Whitling said.

“Azalea’s story is a great example of the community working together to save kitten lives and a New Yorker generously opening up her home to care for them,” said Gemma Smith of the ASPCA Kitten Nursery. “We have an ongoing need in New York City for temporary fosters who can provide attentive, loving care for orphaned kittens and offer orientations on the Upper East Side throughout the season.”

The ASPCA is in the middle of “kitten season” when hundreds of homeless cats and kittens flood area shelters, officials said.
