[Vision2020] Wheat Tariffs and Farming on the Palouse

Garth Taylor and Xiaoxui "Rita" Du discussed "Wheat Tariffs and Farming on the Palouse” at the League of Women Voters of Moscow (LWV-Moscow) forum Wednesday Oct. 3 in the Fiske Room of Moscow 1912 Community Center.

The program included information on how the recently imposed U.S. and other tariffs affect the global markets of commodities grown on the Palouse including wheat, lentils, peas and other crops.

Taylor is an associate professor in the University of Idaho Department of Agricultural Economics. His testifies on agricultural economic conditions before the Idaho Legislature and other agricultural audiences. Du is an assistant professor in the UI Department of Agricultural Economics. Her research interests are risk management and international trade.

7 pm - 9 pm

Candidates for state legislative seats and county offices will discuss their positions on issues at the League of Women Voters of Moscow candidate forum. Candidates running for District 5 Senate and House seats and contested Latah County offices have been invited to participate.

The forum will be monitored by Richard Seamon, a University of Idaho College of Law professor. The forum is free and open to the public.
