[Vision2020] The Impact of State and Federal Policy Decisions

[Moscow Cares]

Alejandra Cerna Rios discussed "The Impact of State and Federal Policy Decisions" at the League of Women Voters of Moscow (LWV-Moscow) Forum on November 8, 2017.

The presentation covered how state policy decisions impact our budget, economy and future. Rios looked at recent trends in Idaho's economic performance and public sector support, and discussed the implications of revenue reductions and the corresponding cuts to public services including how public education has been affected. Policy topics were also examined, including tax and budget issues that are likely to surface in the 2018 legislative session. She also talked about current federal tax and budget proposals and how they might impact the state budget.

Rios is with the Idaho Center for Fiscal Policy where she analyzes tax and budget issues with a focus on state K-12 policy. She earned a Master of Public Affairs and a Master of Science in social work from the University of Texas at Austin.
