> Dear Friends,
> Many of you may be aware of an explosion that occurred late Thursday on our Moscow campus. I want to be sure you know about the incident and how we are responding.
>
> At 9:52 Thursday, students from the Northwest Organization for Rocket Engineering, a student club, were testing experimental fuel in a parking lot near the University of Idaho's Steam Plant. The fuel exploded and four students were injured and taken to Gritman Medical Center. As of Friday morning, all are out of surgery and in recovery. We wish the injured students a full recovery, and I hope you will keep them in your thoughts.
>
> The university released two Vandal Alerts to our campus community about the incident while emergency responders addressed the situation. Two news releases and an internal UI memo have been issued, and we held a news conference last night and first thing this morning. We do not have all the details of the incident to share at this point, but we will share them with media as they become available, within certain guidelines for student privacy.
>
> I am extremely grateful for the fast response of our emergency responders from law enforcement, fire department, emergency services and other authorities. We will conduct a thorough review of the incident. Law enforcement investigators are still gathering details at this preliminary point.
>
> Student safety is paramount at the University of Idaho. Thank you for your thoughts for our injured Vandals.
