*Write-in candidates... *

*All humor aside, I mentioned to someone recently that I was voting in
Idaho for Jill Stein for president, and they replied they were voting in
Idaho for Bernie Sanders. This would mean at this time a write-in, the
possibility of which varies according to state:*

*Some states do not allow write-in candidates for president in the general
election: Arkansas, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, Oklahoma,
South Dakota. Only Alabama, Delaware, Iowa, New Hampshire, New Jersey,
Oregon, Vermont, and Wyoming allow any person, or fiction, without
restrictions, to have a write-in. In the other 35 states, some form of
officially registering with the state is required for a write-in campaign.*

*In Idaho, a declaration of intent must be filed with the secretary of
state by 28 days prior to the election, for a write-in candidate to have
votes counted. *

*Bernie Sanders has indicated he will not promote an
"independent" candidacy for president, and has missed the Sept. 1 deadline
for an independent to appear on the ballot in Idaho:

*Unless Sanders changes his mind by Oct. 11, 2016, the deadline to file the
declaration of intent, there will not be a write-in campaign for Sanders in
Idaho.*

*The following list may not include some potential write-in candidates:*
