Not so good: Four tiny kittens experience a rough and tumble introduction to life after being born in an industrial dryer.

Better: They are safely rescued.

Best: Being reunited with their mother in time for Caturday.

'Crying' kittens born inside tumble dryer rescued at dry-cleaners

A litter of abandoned kittens born inside a tumble dryer at a dry-cleaners in east London have been rescued.

The four kittens survived after their mother was abandoned while still pregnant by a couple who lived next door to the shop in Forest Gate.

They were rescued after the owner of dry-cleaner heard 'crying' from inside the tumble dryer and discovered the ginger kittens.

The kittens reunited with their mother and on the way to the clinic to be cleaned and cared for.

The Celia Hammond Animal Trust was called to assist with the rescue and found the kitten’s mother outside the shop 'distressed'.

It is thought the cat went into the shop looking for a safe and dry place.

“We got a call from the owner who could hear meowing somewhere in the shop,” explained head of the charity Celia Hammond.

“His neighbours had moved away and left their cat behind.

“The owner was very helpful and took apart the machine for us.

“We saw a cat who was clearly their mother outside the shop in distress.”

She added: “We weren’t sure they were going to survive but they are doing fine now at a foster home.”
