Another example of the "I will not discuss that doubtful or unsavory
issue." ploy to in fact give public exposure to the very issue the speaker
is ostensibly asserting they will not lower themselves to address.

To quote from the previous post in this thread:

He added, 'I don’t bring [Foster’s death] up because I don’t know enough to
really discuss it. I will say there are people who continue to bring it up
because they think it was absolutely a murder. I don’t do that because I
don’t think it’s fair.'

But in fact he did just "bring it up!"

If he really thought it was not "fair" he would have refused to address the
issue at all.  We hear this often in public speaking: "No comment.  Next
question, please."

Trump's phrasing is similar to stating "I will not talk about Bill
Clinton's infidelities."  Yeah, right!  You just did.
