[Vision2020] Could have been written in idaho

Dear Visionaries,

I am totally incapable of understanding this nonsense!!! Black lives matter; sick peoples’ lives matter, even right wing Republican lives matter... why, forever more, is it so difficult to realize that we are in this TOGETHER and dependent upon each other to get through this morass we call a life??? Reach out, help those folks, don’t start the affordable care act all over again... work from where we are, apply the Medicaid funds to all those in these 19 states who desperately need this medical assistance.

I hope against hope that we can make sure we elect people up and down the ballot, here and in other states, who recognize that fundamental “together” status we have and who will work cooperatively with it!

ALL OF US are benefitted by such cooperation and no better use of that money is looming than to take care of those in medical need. We owe it to the least of our brothers and sisters.

All the best to each of you Visionaries!

Linda Pall

Yep. I am in her boat, just Idaho instead of N. Carolina. Can't afford meds, however: I think she was a lunatic, supporting GOP policies and right wing agendas. My life matters, damn it. And so did hers. What the hell is the matter with a country as strong and rich as ours that is able to allow people to die for lack of medical care while convincing them their death doesn't matter but the right wing agenda does? I am flummoxed! And disgusted

A doctor's letter to the editor:

I had the pleasure of taking care of a North Carolina constituent recently. She is in her early 60s with severe heart failure acquired as a genetic abnormality. She works in a small diner here and makes $9,000 a year. She needs a defibrillator, which costs from $50,000 to $80,000.

She does not have health insurance since she cannot afford to buy on the open market. She tried the Affordable Care Act. The cutoff is above her pay so she is not eligible. Since Republican lawmakers are fiscally responsible, she understands why they rejected money that was coming from Washington to expand Medicaid. After all, they have to do what is best for the people in other states that expanded Medicaid or what is best for their friends in the insurance and pharmaceutical industry.

She fully supports GOP policies because, after all, what is one life worth? She also understands that the general Republican thought that Medicaid expansion is a Democratic socialist ploy had nothing to do with why they did not adopt it.

I regret to inform you that she died a few days ago. I am pretty sure she and her family are thankful to Republicans for saving all this money. She totally understands the position that the cheapest patient is a dead patient.

The letter might have been written in any of the 19 states that have refused Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act.

  Count her as "died quickly."
