Taruscio nominated to City Council
Moscow mayor selects Chamber executive to succeed Carscallen
Moscow may have its newest City Council member.
Mayor Bill Lambert announced Friday afternoon that he has selected Moscow Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gina Taruscio to replace Dan Carscallen, who resigned May 17 after holding the seat since 2007.
The City Council will consider Taruscio at its regular meeting Monday evening. If the council confirms the appointment, she will serve until the next city election, which is November 2017.
Taruscio serves on the Moscow Farmers Market Commission and has co-hosted many city events through her work at the Chamber of Commerce, according to a city news release.
"Gina is a tremendous asset for our community," Lambert wrote in a news release. "I look forward to her perspective in representing the citizens of Moscow, given her success in representing the many businesses at the chamber and her work in the community."
Taruscio graduated from the University of Oklahoma and three days later moved to Moscow in May 1994. Taruscio earned her master's degree in public administration from the University of Idaho.
She directed the Idaho Business Technology Incubator until 2000 and then worked with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, BioTracking and Express Professional Staffing.
Taruscio serves on the SMART Transit board and the Partnership for Economic Prosperity board.
