PRESS RELEASE
City of Moscow to Prune Downtown Trees
September 3, 1025 (Moscow, Idaho) - The City of Moscow Parks Department will be pruning trees in downtown Moscow beginning Tuesday, September 8 through Friday, September 11, 2015. During this week of work, crews will be operating chainsaws and pruners, beginning at 5 a.m. with chipper work to be completed after 7 a.m. This will include tree care on Main Street and 6th Street.
Crews will be working in the areas designated for vehicle parking, working one block at a time, performing pruning starting at 5 a.m. Work is scheduled for this time frame to allow crews to navigate work areas without fewer vehicles on the street to allow for more efficient and safe work. Barricades will be setup on a daily basis, in keeping with City of Moscow Street Department requirements and to ensure safety for crews and the community.
The pruning work will protect trees by removing branches from traffic sight lines, raise low-hanging branches over sidewalks, remove branches that are in contact with buildings or other structures, as well as clear branches that are blocking signs. All work will be done in compliance with City Code and height/clearance requirements. Wood chips will be recycled for use in local parks.
