Oral History Workshop


We are pleased to announce that former Idaho state oral historian, Troy Reeves, will present two free public workshops exploring the best practices for oral history collection. These workshops are supported by the Idaho Humanities Council. 

The first mini-workshop will be on June 25 at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History (415 Main St, Lewiston). The workshop will be from 7 to 9pm, and its focus will be on how to plan for and then conduct oral history interviews. Highlights include project planning, technology, questions and follow-up questions, and release forms. Hosted by LCHS, the second, full-length workshop will take place on June 27 at the 1912 Center (412 E Third St, Moscow). Running from 9am to 1pm, this workshop will serve as an overview of how to conduct an oral history from start to finish. Three subcategories will be covered: Pre-Interview, Interview, and Post-Interview, including project planning, technology, funding, questions and follow-up questions, release forms, index or transcript, publication, and any other questions attendees might have.
