Just some cute cats in over-sized outfits texting one another


Cats! Cats in human clothes! Texting one another!

This is Mia Mullarkey’s winning entry for the #SMWCreative contest and it raises a lot of questions about whether cats would make the best use of mobile technology, frankly.

The video, filmed on a Nokia Lumia 930, shows cats dressed up, going about their business texting, scrolling through their pics and sending videos.

Focused around one ‘cat family’, they share pretty dull chat and have a very poor grasp of spelling and grammar.



There’s at the office cat (mum, dad, who knows in that outfit?) – ‘Hi baby. Miss you. Howz the kittens?’

Home with the kittens cat – ‘Hi hun. Kids are watching tv. Miss u 2. Purrrrr.’



And cheeky kitten – ‘Hi mom!! This is Leopold!!! Were watching catman returns! Dinner woz yum!!!!’

Who uses this many exclamation marks in a text? And when has any child, furry or not, got that excited about their dinner?

Also, if the adults are dressed, why are all the kids naked?

Why are cats calling their kittens kids?

Catman Returns, though, I think we’d all like to see that.

Anyway, office worker cat goes on to ask cheeky kitten – ‘Hi Leo, how was school?’

Here comes the pun – ‘Bad!!! Mr Catwright always gives us 2 much homework!!! :((‘

Obviously their homework is mouse catching.

Then it’s all finished off with ‘a video that dad made of us! :-P’

It’s a wonder it’s not a phone adv… oh.

Ms Mullarkey, of Dublin, came up with Nokia 930 Cat Video after being invited to submit a piece capturing the theme of a shared experience.

Her prize includes a trip to Los Angeles as part of Social Media Week, which is taking place now.

The event is being marked in nine countries and Microsoft is a major sponsor.

Judge Stephen Alvarez said: ‘I hate to have a cat video be the winner, but I think the film maker is poking fun of (sic) the popularity of cat videos on the internet. Great production and story telling! Hilarious.
