[Vision2020] Beautiful renovation at . . .

Thank you, Ron for posting this information. I understand the notion of setting edges and creating transitions - I call it marking territory. Some lovely flower beds and tasteful signage would accomplish the task nicely. I doubt that three quarters of a million dollar spent on “esthetics” is worth the price in times of plenty. Given the current parsimonious education funding in Idaho, I would infinitely prefer that amount be allocated to the University Library to benefit students, faculty and staff.

>From the July 23,2014 Daily News:

...The gateways are part of a long-range development plan started in the mid-1990s. The $775,000 project includes installing red brick gateways at the intersections of Stadium and Perimeter drives and Line Street with Highway 8.

"It's all about setting an edge and creating transition," Pankopf said, adding the gateways help to give a positive first image of the university.

I guess it is a question of priorities, Gary. I also wonder about the bottom line of this project. I’m guessing it would be one just more opportunity for my head to explode.

It's nice to see that the U of I is so well off that it can afford to build a few monuments to the glory that is itself.

Now the question is how long before we must endure the "inadequate funding for higher ed." lamentations?
