I hope the city (and ITD) are smart enough to keep the right turn lane in place rather than expand the sidewalk at that spot.  The right turn lanes on Jackson Street (on 6th, 3rd and A Streets) are very helpful and do a lot to ease the flow of traffic.

Those trees needed to come out, the sidewalk around them was a trip hazard for the able-bodied and a nightmare for the disabled. Additionally, the trees were so large that they took up half of the walkway so that two people couldn't walk past each other in opposite directions.
