PRESS RELEASE
Parent Shopping Day Out for families with children with disabilities – October 25 event canceled, now accepting registration for December 13

October 23, 2014 (Moscow, Idaho) — The City of Moscow Parks and Recreation and Families Together for People with Disabilities are partnering to give parents with children who have a disability a day out. This October 25 event has been canceled; registration is now open for the December 13 event.

The Parent Shopping Day Out is being hosted by Families Together, a nonprofit organization that believes family involvement and support are essential for individuals with disabilities to reach their potential and maintain a life that is secure and meaningful. The day will be hosted at the Eggan Youth Center, 1515 East D Street, Moscow, ID 83843 on Saturday, December 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is required by December 8, 2014 at 5 p.m. To register, please visit the City of Moscow Parks and Recreation registration site at http://moscowrecreation.sportsites.com, click on Youth Enrichment Classes, and then Parent Shopping Day Out. Families Together programs are designed to build and sustain strong, healthy, informed, and actively involved family members who can work together to improve the lifelong outcomes for their child or sibling with a disability.

Finding reliable, quality child care can be a difficult and stressful task for any parent — especially those who have children with special healthcare needs. We provide buddies for each child from Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and Delta Zeta sorority and an atmosphere of fun with games, movies, crafts, and pizza.
The Parent Shopping Day Out provides a potentially much needed day of respite for parents and a fun opportunity for kids to come together and socialize in a welcoming environment. This activity day is designed to get kids together for a day full of fun - playing games, doing arts and crafts projects, and watching movies, lunch will also be served. This opportunity gives parents a chance to get out, do some shopping, or just relax for a few hours.
