Interesting! Thanks for sharing, Tom!
My dh (who came of age in the 1960s) & I were in Spokane this past weekend. After we finished our tasks and were heading back to the freeway, we passed by one of the “pot shops” there, and being the curious kind, we decided to stop in & see what they are like. If the one in Pullman will be anything like the one in Spokane, it was a very professional set-up not at all like the kind of “head shop” atmosphere we were anticipating. I think they must be used to having looky loos :) In any case, since we were the only people in the shop, the “budmaster” kindly gave us a tour, which was a hoot! He was very knowledgeable about the products (I’m not, so much of the education went over my head) and the shop was very clean and almost clinical in appearance.
I’m glad we stopped in to check it out – I thought it was a blast! It reminded me of the time back in the Dark Ages when a group of girlfriends took me to an adult bookstore shortly after I turned 18 and we giggled up a storm. We didn’t buy anything then or now, but the experience was entertaining and something I’m sure I’ll fondly remember for the rest of my life. I don’t think either my dh or I ever thought we’d be able to go into store where marijuana was legally being sold in our lifetimes, so it was a fun first.
I think we’ll definitely go check out the Pullman shop after the opening rush to see how it compares to the one in Spokane!

Pullman's first pot shop opens Saturday
Pullman’s first marijuana retail shop will open this weekend.
MJ’s Pot Shop, owned by Mary Jane Smith of Pullman’s For Art’s Sake, will open at noon Saturday at 1335 SE Bishop Blvd. The store is located in the back of Higginson’s Flooring Center Warehouse.
Spokesperson Brian Augenstein said the 1,000 square-foot space passed inspection from the Washington State Liquor Control Board in September. He said all of the security equipment, including surveillance cameras satisfied Washington regulations.
He said all customers should expect to have their IDs checked at the door to ensure they are 21 years or older.
“If you don’t have an ID you will not be admitted,” he said.
The store will remain open until 8 p.m.
