Spokane VA Hospital cuts 24 hour emergency room service
SPOKANE, Wash. - Leaders at the Spokane VA Medical Center confirmed Wednesday that the emergency room will no longer be open 24 hours a day starting in December.
Instead, hospital staff said they are cutting emergency room hours.
Hospital staff said starting December 1st, the emergency room will only be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a week. Staff said if someone arrives at the emergency room after hours, they will have to send them to another hospital.
KREM 2 News has reached out to the hospital to find out what this means for health insurance coverage for veterans who will have to be treated at a hospital emergency room outside of the VA. The latest updates will be posted throughout the day as KREM 2 News uncovers more details.
