[Vision2020] A 1.6 million-pound megaload, huh?

The absurdity is rooted in Tom's posts and he's been wrong so far on ALL of his predictions. He posted umpteen pictures of Lost Trail Pass with customary 'tick-tock' as if that whole deal was going to explode and it didn't. He posted how it was 'bullshit' that overpass onramps and offramps in Idaho were going to be reinforced to handle the weight of the megaloads and tried rallying the troops (to no avail) to go stage a protest. Now he's showing another picture of bridge with his amateur opinion that it can't handle a 1.6 million pound megaload as if that entire weight is going to be concentrated within a a small enough area to collapse the bridge. The bridge isn't going to collapse unless it's sabotaged by environmentalist terrorists.
Paul has posted a number of times not to worry about any of this and that megaloads will find their way to the destination. The sooner, the better. Then the discussion can be focussed on the supposed 'real problem' instead of just the symptom.

What an asinine thing to say. But, if we’re going for the truly absurd, which both Scott and Gary seem to want, saying that a best case scenario for those objecting to the mega-loads would be a catastrophic bridge collapse is like saying that a best case scenario for those who worship at the 2A alter is for more school shootings so that one will eventually happen in a school where a 2Aer has a gun to “take out” the goblin and hence make the ideal 2”A trumps all” case. Asinine. SaundraMoscow, ID The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That's the essence of inhumanity.~ George Bernard Shaw From: vision2020-bounces at moscow.com [mailto:vision2020-bounces at moscow.com] On Behalf Of Gary Crabtree

Stubby limb, that. g On Mon, May 19, 2014 at 10:08 PM, Scott Dredge <scooterd408 at hotmail.com> wrote:To echo Paul from about 6 months ago, are you worried that engineers have miscalculated the strength of the bridge? Seems to me that one of the best case scenarios for the anti-megaloaders / anti-business types is that the bridge collapses. I'll go out on a limb and predict that it won't.From: thansen at moscow.com
