Yes fine by me that final determination regarding desertion and any possible enforceable consequences is made by the proper authorities.  In the interim, expect him to be tried by the court of public opinion which you yourself partake in quite often here on the viz with your constant attempted smear campaigns (most recently with your phony charges on Michele Bachmann).  He who lives a glass house, yada, yada, yada...

The bottom line (as I have mentioned earlier), Mr. Dredge, is that the Army will make final determination concerning Sergeant Bergdahl's assumed desertion (which may be the case, based on email exchanges between him and his father prior to his disappearance.  OK?

Whether or not Sergeant Bergdahl deserted his unit, resulting in his capture by the Taliban, is a matter for which the U.S. Army is the sole authority.
Strange, though, Sergeant Bergdahl was never considered to be a deserter.  In fact, PFC Bergdahl, in addition to being maintained on the rolls, was promoted regularly in ABSENTIA.
