PRESS RELEASE
Impaired Driving Enforcement

July 15, 2014 (Moscow, Idaho) - The City of Moscow Police Department, in conjunction with agencies throughout the state, is focusing our efforts to target aggressive and distracted drivers. The emphasis patrols will take place from July 18 through July 28, 2014.

According to Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) statistics, more Idahoans between the ages 4 through 44 are killed each year as a result of traffic crashes than by natural causes. Speeding continues to be a major factor in approximately one-third of traffic deaths every year across the nation. In addition to speeding, texting while driving is always a dangerous choice and one of the leading causes for distracted driving. The use of smartphones and other hand-held devices to read, prepare, or send written communications while operating a motor vehicle is a violation of the law. Aggressive and distracted driving represents a risk to everyone on Idaho roadways. The goal of the emphasis patrols is to have no more traffic fatalities on Idaho roadways.

This summer while traveling please consider the risks to yourself, your loved ones, and to other motorists.

Drive safe, drive sober, buckle up and have a safe summer.
