In my mind, from what has been reported, this is either a publicity stunt
(to gather conservative customers) or a measure to reduce cost of business
by the Green family and HL. As it is now established that they invest in
the companies that profit from the very things they claim to abhor on
religious grounds. There are many mutual funds and investment tools one can
invest with to follow either "justice principles", "green principles", or
"religious principles", etc.. HL overtly elects to not follow their "deep"
principles with their monetary business decisions, as exhibited by their
own investment behavior.
What I do not understand is why it has not come up that women's
reproductive health medications have, for years, had more than a single
reason for being prescribed. While both viagra and the morning after pill
may have a single use; I personally know of many women who have been
prescribed birth control pills due to overly heavy menstrual flow, (to
ameliorate anemia), or fluctuating hormone levels that birth control pills
bring into balance, for instance.
This is not about religious beliefs being compromised. IMHO, this is about
not allowing women, adult women to have equal access to prescribed
medications to improve their quality of life.
I only hope that women everywhere will quit opening their wallets the the
Green family.
But that is my opinion.
