PRESS RELEASE
City of Moscow hosts Quarterly Regional Breakfast to Discuss Local Food

January 8, 2014 (Moscow, Idaho) - Local and regional officials met Thursday, January 8, 2014 at the Quarterly Regional Breakfast meeting to discuss local foods. Presenters included master of ceremonies Robin Ohlgren, Whitman County Managing Director of the Southeast Washington Economic Development Association who discussed the regional economy and Palouse-Clearwater Food Coalition's definition of a food shed; Mackenzie Femreite the Food Marketing Manager of the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council who highlighted the local niche for dry peas, lentils and chickpeas, and that all of the producers, including the small ones, are complementary to the others; and Pat Clelland, General Manager of Vandals Dining who commented on the various stakeholders/markets, including, of course, the University of Idaho, including supply chains.

Mayor Bill Lambert remarked of the event, "I look forward to continued and increased conversations with our friends at our local universities, Whitman and Latah County, as well as Mayor Glenn Johnson and our neighbors in Pullman, Washington as we all move forward together in representing and championing our region."

Quarterly Regional Breakfast meetings are hosted by the various municipal agencies in Whitman and Latah County regularly throughout the year.
